Installing Acoustical Underlayment
Proper installation of QuietSound™ Acoustical Underlayment is the responsibility of our customers. Unapproved adhesives can result in permanent damage and are not covered under our 25-year limited warranty. A premium grade adhesive, such as QuietGrip™, with high moisture resistance (up to 8 lbs./90% RH) that is specially formulated to provide maximum bond strength while helping to minimize plank shrinkage, is required for the offer the highest caliber tack and peel strength.
QuietSound can be installed under most types of grouted, glued and floating floors, including:

Acoustical Testing:
Accurate, independent third party testing is critical to meet the regulatory requirements of green construction codes for all types of buildings. U.S. Rubber takes the growing concern regarding the effect sound has on human performance and living conditions seriously. Please see the summary matrix below and click on the green button to explore our library of test results conducted by Intertek.
Impact insulation class (IIC) is an integer-number rating of how well a building floor attenuates impact sounds, such as footsteps. A higher number means more attenuation. One should note, however, that all IIC ratings are not equal. When comparing the acoustical performance of QuietSound™ to other acoustical underlayments, it is critical to note the composition of the products (e.g., rubber (resilient), cork (not resilient) or foam (not resilient)) and the subfloor/flooring assembly of the testing. Unless the test assemblies are identical, it’s an “apples to oranges” comparison that will yield an inaccurate conclusion.
An IIC rating of 50 and above is most common in building code and HOA requirements. (US)
The Delta IIC rating is the best sound rating to consider when comparing the performance of different types of underlayment. It keeps the manufacturers from promoting misleading results obtained by using materials or methods of isolation that the average assembly does not use. This test is only relevant for concrete subfloors.

Green Advantage:
QuietSound Acoustic Underlay is used inCommercial, Healthcare, Retail, Education and Hospitality
“We supplied the QuietSound acoustic underlayment for a number of very large downtown Los Angeles condo projects and our clients couldn’t be happier. It’s also great that the product is made locally, which means more LEED points.”
